The X220 Thinkpad Laptop Possibly the greatest of all 'Classic' Laptops, it holds a special place in my heart, which is why I have 2 1, and why two all three of my kids have one each (thanks pandemic for home schooling), and why I have 2 x220 motherboards destined to become either home media streaming machines or home servers (maybe even a proxmox host)

CoreBoot x220 I have currently corebooted 5 x220 laptops (well 3 complete and 2 partial) I created 3 bootsplash images here More details will appear soon maybe with a “how to”. e14 Not currently supported ( will recheck in 2 years after my warrant expires

The Apps that I use Generally I use a mix of both GUI and CLI applications and tools, for instance I am writing this using Nano within Konsole however I will start with what most people consider the important thing - how I interact with the internet.

Kubuntu Ubuntu with KDE Desktop Environment, I have never been a 'fan' of Ubuntu, and this feeling is something to which I cannot assign a reason for, I have tried Ubuntu several times in the past, I always found it less appealing to use in comparison to the likes of Arch Linux That said Kubuntu 20.10 is one of only a handful of distributions that would boot without too many issues to resolve on my new

Alpine A very light non-gnu Linux it uses Muscl and Busybox, it also has the KDE Desktop Environment available!, sadly Thunderbird seems broken and not installable, so that is a deal breaker for me (Kmail is not a sane alternative)

KDE Neon I was looking forward to trying out KDE Neon and at first it looks and feels great, its a very impressive implementation of KDE-Plasma, although that was not really a surprise, it is an official 'non-distro' from the KDE Project I have started to theme all my desktops in a fairly similar way, for me KDE-Neon looked like this

Debian Debian (Stable) is a rock solid Linux distribution, it may run slightly older versions of software by default, although with Flatpak and Snap compatibility this does not have to be the case. Backup /home, Install Debian, Migrate /home I installed/migrated my system by doing something like
